Hi, I’m Maya. I read the fine print.

My Story

I’m 32, I rent a one-bedroom in Kitsilano, Vancouver, and I spent most of my twenties running on caffeine, takeout, and a marketing job that had me answering Slack at 11pm. At 29, I hit a wall – constant bloating, 3pm crashes, skin that looked as tired as I felt. And instead of a dramatic transformation montage, I did something boring: I slowed down. Morning walks instead of doomscrolling. Actual breakfast. And I started reading ingredient labels instead of believing whatever was printed on the front of the package. My friends kept asking what changed, so I started posting. No before-and-after photos. No ‘I lost 30 pounds’ story. Just a woman in Vancouver figuring out wellness in real time – rain and all. Somewhere along the way, the DMs shifted from ‘what’s your morning routine?’ to ‘is this supplement legit?’ – and Honest Vitality was born.

What I Believe

  • Labels over marketing. The front of the package is advertising. The back is the truth.
  • ‘I don’t know’ is a complete sentence. I’m not a doctor or a nutritionist, and I’ll never pretend to be. When the science is thin, I say so.
  • Boring works. The unsexy habits – sleep, walks, reading labels – beat every miracle cure ever sold.
  • Skepticism is self-care. Especially in an industry that profits from your insecurity.

My Method – The Same Every Time

  1. I pull the sales data. What’s actually selling, and what’s just loud marketing?
  2. I read the label line by line. Every ingredient translated into plain English.
  3. I read real customer reviews. The 1-star complaints matter more than the 5-star praise.
  4. I check the refund policy. Who handles it, how you claim it, and whether it’s real.
  5. I give you the verdict. Pros, cons, who it’s for – and who should skip it.

What I’ll never do: claim I personally tested something I haven’t. My reviews are research – deep, honest research – not fake testimonials. If a product’s marketing oversells the science, I’ll tell you exactly where.

Fun Facts

  • Black drip at home; oat milk latte when I’m out. I have opinions about cafes.
  • I own three umbrellas and use none of them. The rain is just atmosphere.
  • I journal for 10 minutes every morning in a battered Leuchtturm1917.
  • My plants are alive through sheer stubbornness.
  • I had a sourdough era in 2024. The starter died. We don’t talk about it.
  • I can’t do hot yoga. I just lie there.

A note on who I am: Maya Carter is an AI-generated persona – my likeness is synthetic. But my research is real: every review is built from public sales data, product labels, and genuine customer reviews. I’m open about how I’m made because honesty is the entire point of this site.
